Versatile Vinegar

Remove Rust:

Remove rust from garden tools and other items by soaking them for 10 minutes in a solution of half vinegar and half water.  Rub with a cloth and the rust should be gone.


Remove Stubborn Price Tags:

To remove stubborn price tags or stickers paint them with several coats of vinegar.  Let the liquid soak in for 5 minutes and then wipe away the residue.


Make Sweaters Fluffier:

To make wool sweaters softer and fluffier add a couple of capfuls of vinegar to the rinse cycle.


Use as a Natural Weed Killer: 

To kill weeds between paving stones and cracks in sidewalks, fill a spray bottle with straight vinegar and spray multiple times over several days.  The acidity in the vinegar will kill the weeds within a few days.

  2. Not all vinegar is created equal. While all vinegars require ethanol for production, some vinegars are made with synthetically produced ethanol made from petroleum. Check the label before you buy for words like grain alcohol or neutral grain spirits to ensure you re buying a product made from natural food sources.
