Extinguish a fire
Extinguish a grease fire or electrical fire. Scatter baking soda by the handful to safely put out the fire.

Wash coffee pots
Wash glass or stainless steel coffee pots (but not aluminum) in a baking soda solution of 3 tablespoons baking soda to 1 quart water.

Clean a greasy garage floor
If you have a greasy garage floor, sprinkle baking soda on the greasy spot. Let stand, scrub and rinse. You may also add a small amount of Dawn dishwashing liquid to further cut the grease.

 

Clean a badly burned pan
Clean a badly burned pan with a thick layer of burned-on food. Pour a thick layer of baking soda directly onto the bottom of the pan, then sprinkle on just enough water to moisten the soda. Leave the pot over night, and then scrub it clean the next day.

To clean soap scum from a shower curtain, soak in water and baking soda over night.
